Does a D- in Calculus destroy my Wisconsin Dreams?

I applied in October and was deferred

White Male, Milwaukee, Wisconsin

International Baccalaureate Diploma Candidate
GPA (W): 3.75 GPA (UW): 3.34
Rank: 30% at most competitive school in Wisconsin
ACT: 30, 28, 31 Writing: 9 All three times (Admissions has all 3 scores)
5 years Work Experience (35 hours/week during summer last 2 years)
President of Homelessness Awareness/Service Club at school
4 years Varsity Soccer (State Finalist Junior Year)
Organized volunteer trip to Mississippi to aid Hurricane Katrina Victims
Worked as a Volunteer Drama Camp Counselor over summer for 1 year

Senior Schedule (With 7th Semester Grades):
IB English HL (B)
Calculus (D-)
IB Econ HL (A)
IB Bio HL (A-)
IB Theory of Knowledge (A-)
IB Spanish SL (B+)

I've been in high track classes throughout my high school career, and I only touched on the most important of my EC's. I wrote them 2 letters explaining why my grades kind of suck (family problems) and explaining why I would be a good choice after I was postponed. I also included two new letters of recomendation which I think are solid and give a better outlook on me than the first two.

The D- is what I'm worried about. I was pushed into Calculus by my teacher, and am the first kid at my school to ever take Calc without taking pre-calc first. I wrote about a paragraph in one of the letters I wrote explaining the situation, mentioning that I am the first person in my school to ever make the jump, and how the other 2 kids who tried dropped out.

Anyone know how I'm looking for the second review of my app?

I'm confused about where you applied. I'm seeing a lot of University of Wisconsins. Let's see........collegeboard says U of Wisconsin, Madison has a 56% admit rate. That seems to be a tough one.

Try to make your score go up each time you retake?

No, a D- in Calculus is not going to annihilate your dreams. It might hurt you a little, but it certainly isn't going to kill your chances by itself because of this...

Yeah, I mean Madison (Not really worried about Milwaukee or La Crosse)

No shot with a D-. Sorry man. Transfer to Madison after freshman year.

^ BS.

Obviously didn't actually read the whole post.

I think you still pose great abilities and definitely a great heart/personality
plus you're an in state student
I'd say Madison is a match for you (60~70% getting in)
