I am one of those students who couldnt break 1300 (1270) but have a Gpa of 4.023, and more than 100 hours of community service. will i get any financial aid from colleges or i am left alone because i am skewed. Also are they any scholarships that give serious consideration to High GPA but mediocre SAT score. Thanks a lot.

You may have to come down a notch in the schools which you are looking at.. You should concentrate on schools where your grades and scores are at the top of the applicant pool at schools that offer merit money

What schools are you applying to?

As mentioned above, you may need to look at schools not as "highly ranked" by the powers that be (US News), but there should be some scholarship opportunities for you. However, even at those "lower ranked" colleges, your SAT may lower the total award you are offered.

you may want to consider schools listed by fair test as schools which make the SAT/ACT optional .
If your SAT score can't be improved ( what your SAT ll look like?) at first glance it just looks like grade inflation.
Depending on where you did your community service you may be eligible for money from sponsoring organization. Try fastweb.com for links to scholarships.
However 100 hours doesn't actually strike me as that unusual. Often districts are requiring hours to graduate even if you aren't going to college. Our district requires 60 hours although you can get away with minimal math and no foreign language.
My daughters private school required 200 hours for graduation, she had 2000.

look at more state schools.....you have a great GPA/SAT score......many schools will offer you merit aid

It depends.
For instance a student who had 3.5 at a rigorous school, 1300 SAT, 780 SAT ll Verbal, thousands of hours of community service, great recommendations and essays recieved less than $1000 in merit aid from instate public schools.
Even a friend who was a National Merit Scholar recieved less than $1000 at the school she attends.
The less rigourous schools often seem to have less money and if you don't have a hook they want ( like polo champion) then they save the money for those who do.
It does depend on the state but I am just trying to be realistic not to expect merit money for academics

i am not applying to any notch schools, except for the state schools which don't even rank in the top 100(as by u.s. news), and the gpa may not necessarily be considered a grade inflation because it is ranked in top 50 schools by u.s. news. I have 100 hours of community service, 490 hours of internships, and i did break a 1300 sat score. so how does this improve my chances. what kinda scholarships can i be eligible for. please help me. Thanks a bunch for posting!
