Does a high SAT II Math score compensate for low SAT I Math score?

Say one receives an 800 on Math II and a 750 on SAT I Math. Is it worth retaking the SAT I to improve the Math score to an 800 or would top engineering colleges view this 50 point difference as negligible given the SAT II score?

First of all a 750 is already a pretty good score for the SAT I math, and your not guaranteed to get an 800 on your next SAT, because its so hard not to make at least of a couple of careless errors.

LOL, a 750 is not a low score.

I doubt it’s worth it to take it again. First, 750 is a high score. Second, I think engineering colleges are much more interested in your SAT II math score anyway, because that’s the sort of advanced math that you’d be taking at those colleges.

^ SAT II Math IIC isn’t exactly advanced math :)

Not really related but kind of- say a school has an average SAT scor of 700 CR and 700 M, would a 750 in Math make up for a 650 in reading?

At least more than the SAT I is…

The Math II Subject Test measures what you have learned in math, whereas Math on the SAT Reasoning Test measures your problem solving and ability to learn new math. One doesn’t really compensate for the other; they measure different things.
