Does any UC still consider SAT

Which UC still looks at SAT if submitting it voluntarily? Reason being, son got a 1590 in one sitting and before lockdown, this would be greatly beneficial, but now reading UCs going test blind, it hurts his chances with so many more competitors all with exceptional gpa. Thanks in advance for your answers and help.

None.

UC’s are test blind through the 2024 admission cycle.

My son had same stats. Only accepted at UCR.

SAT scores can be submitted but not used for admission purposes, only for class placement.

as others capture, SAT scores wont be considered at UCs - at least for now.
What are his GPA and ECs like?

He’s a Junior. At the end of this semester we expect his unweighted GPA to be 3.96, UC GPA to be 4.6. He’s taken a total of 7 AP and 1 UC Honor up to this point. His only EC is being part of National Honors Society. This summer, once COVID winds down, we hope he can do an intern or summer job. Yes, he is lacking EC and volunteering. Anyone has suggestions? Thanks everyone!

Thank you!

The UCGPA is capped at 8 AP bonus points, so for most people in mathematically can’t be above 4.4. That said, with a 3.96 UW, he is going to be competitive for most of the UCs UCB, UCLA and UCSD are probably a reach but, the rest will probably take him.

I’d add that being test blind makes it really hard to predict UCs decisions. Be sure to apply broadly - include several CSUs, Perhaps SDSU, SLO, CSULB in the south and- Sonoma and Chico in N cal.

Good luck.

Without ECs he has little chance at the top UCs based on what we’ve seen this year. Without EC and job experience, those essays will surely be lacking.

You’re right! UC GPA about 4.29 and weighted GPA 4.6. With UC’s going test blind, it’ll be tough for him to make the cut for UCB and UCSD. Thanks for your insight. We’ll need the good luck!

UCs consider uncapped as well.
