Does anyone else have a really hard AP class?

For me, my senior year, AP Bio has to be one of the hardest APs I've ever had. I have 3 other APs, and this one is harder than the other three combined (AP Gov, AP Lit, and AP Calc) Given, AP Gov has been a joke class so far.

Anyway, just a sample of why it's so hard, all her tests are AP style, without a curve. In other words, even though a 70% would be a 5 on an AP test, it's still considered a C-, and she does the whole -.25 thing too. It sucks.

As for our winter break homework, we have to read 5 chapters from Campbells, do Guided Reading packets for all of them, and then have a test when we get back. So much for a vacation.

Anyone else have a ridiculous hard/ huge workload class?

AP Lit is harder than Bio? For me it’s the other way around. But then I already know the stuff in Bio. My Lit teacher doesn’t like giving out good grades, at least not to me :frowning:
Thanks for reminding me to write that essay sigh

The reason 70% is still a C- is that your teacher (I’m assuming here) is testing you on what she has covered in class. The AP exam is far broader than anyone can cover in a year of high school, and there will be a lot of stuff on the AP test that you never saw in class. You’ll probably have to do better than 90% on the material you were taught in order to get 70% on the AP exam.

Self-studying Physics C is no laughing matter. :<

Sounds like a fine teacher to me. My teacher did the same thing test wise, never a curve (even on the tests where 1-2 out of 50 got higher than a 70.) Its fair. and for the homework, you might hate it now, but when you realize you need to know 45 or so chapters for the AP exam, youll be thankful you got to learn everything instead of going in the exam wishing for stuff you have learned.

Lowest grade(90%) in AP English Language and Composition of all of the AP classes I have taken. However, the class doesn’t seem that hard because of the workload.

In my perspective, APUSH is because of the homework and the inability to get an A on a test without it being curved.

You know, my A.P Bio class is the same thing. There’s pretty much a test every week, loads of outline, labs, test practices, and papers. Although everyone complain all the time, I actually like it that she gives us a lot of work. Memorizing 45+chapters in a high school time frame loaded with hundreds of information is no easy feat.
Although, this is not my hardest class ( since I love Bio anyways). My hardest class is A.P Spanish. Totally miserable, 100% hate that class. A test every 4 days followed by packets upon packets and tons of memorization. I don’t mind sitting in a chair for hours, but if it become too repetitive I start falling asleep and snoring on my study desk.

AP Chem is the hardest class I’ve ever taken

spdf and cowking15, I agree. It’s just, like anyone else, I don’t want to do the work haha. And I’m getting especially lazy senior year, even more so since I already got excepted to my top choice (I still will work hard though, just less stress).

She is a good teacher, and obviously the reason she’s doing it is to prepare us. I’m thankful for that but I’m frustrated at the same time haha.

My AP Lit teacher frustrates me with her policy on grading essays, which we do a lot of (two-three a week). She grades them on a nine point scale, like the exam. Your score out of nine is multiplied by two and you can get two points if you have all of your grammar and spelling correct, for a total of twenty. She’s one of those teachers who brags about never giving out perfect scores “three nines in the past two years” she says. She’s also one of those teachers who never tells you specifically what is wrong with an essay. Several times this year I’ve gotten an essay back with “Great Job!” as the only comment, with some typo/grammar error circled, for 16 out of twenty points, which is an 80%, which at my school is a C. Tis teh sux.

We do the same testing style in my AP mechanics class and it can get really hard. But my teacher balances out our grades with lots of homework so I am almost always working on things for that class.

omggg
i hate AP comparative politics and government
it’s not about the US gov
but about 6 core countries!!!11

AP Physics C would be, hands down, the hardest class I’ve ever taken… if he didn’t curve every test

Probably AP Chem. I had a nightmare about that final last night.

I guess AP Biology? I mean the material on its own isn’t too bad, but it’s just the amount of time we are expected to understand the material (which I don’t feel like is enough)- that’s what’s pulling me down. And we get quizzed like everyday…ugh

personally, I think AP Histories are the hardest. I’ve only taken Euro…but it was badd. and everyone complains about APUSH. This may be because I am not really a history person…

I’m in IB, but IB Chem is kicking my arse, to say the least.

Had the same problem with AP Bio as a junior, except I ended up doing well in the class because it was the only AP I took. I was the only one who did well.
This year I’m taking AP Chem & Psych. Both are extremely hard (as is nearly every AP at my school since we don’t have much). I lasted one day in AP Calc. No thanks.

crap, is IB chem that difficult? I’m doing HL, and this year, class is fairly easy. I’m worried about next year though…
