Registration is this week and I’m wondering how strict their english requirements are, I’ve taken a honors course that doesn’t really fit what they are looking for but I could take 2 english classes this semester to fulfill them, but would rather not. Do they throw away applications that don’t 100% fit the requirements?
If there are more than enough applicants who follow the admission requirements, they have no need to consider those that don’t. (And its “an honors course”.)
Acceptance to Cornell is highly competitive. Why would you needlessly handicap your application by not adhering to the admission requirements?
Because the guidelines are somewhat strict and our English advisor told me there is no class that follows them strictly. My honors class met some of them but not all of them. If there is no equivalent class offered do I just tell them that? @jym626
That’s a question for Cornell. But you said you have alternate ways to meet the requirement. Just because you don’t want to doesn’t seem like a good reason for Cornell to waive their requirement.
@jym626 That was misinformation on my part, my engineering advisor told me those classes probably worked but he wasn’t sure, so the taking two english class option isn’t open anymore. The English advisor here told me those classes don’t fulfill the guidelines really.
I’m going to email them and ask what to do when no classes available fulfill the requirements and I’ll get back to you guys.
