As in, I took a class, did not do good on it (did not fail though). Then I take it again later and get a better grade (supposedly) and that better grade "replaces" the older one in calculating my GPA.

Thanks!

Fordham will look at your transcript when it is submitted with your application for whatever grade appears at that time. They also ask for a final transcript in June to verify you completed your credits and didnt bomb out with senioritis.

If you are presently taking the replacement course this semester and that new grade will be on your transcript for the RD pool applicants, then you are likely fine, even if both grades appear. If you already submitted your transcript with the old grade and Fordham doesnt have the replacement grade yet, and you applied EA, you need to advise them IMMEDIATELY you are retaking the course. Of course, that could cause a deferral into the RD pool, which may happen anyway with the old grade depending on how bad it is, what class it is, and how it affects your gpa.

Fordham publishes on its website the class profile from last year, which is a strong guide to where you fit. Generally, you DONT want to be below the 50% percentile of admitted students profile. You want to be as high as you can, such as 75th percentile, to ensure acceptance. Fordham’s gpa standards are fairly static and stable and they look for a gpa above 3.5. Their avg SAT is around 1268. You want to be above both scores.

Good luck.

My condition now…UGH… really late, but I got deferred.
Bio Major at Rose hill
Ive been doing good in school with a 3.8 GPA, volunteer,
I’ve transferred 3 schools in 3 different locations and managed to keep my consistency.
I took 2 AP’s as a junior (english and Bio without chem as a prerequisite and merged to do good?!?!) And 2 AP’s as a senior (US Gov and English Literature)
Volunteer hours,
2 year job and the
best recommendations made specifically for fordham from my chem and genetics teachers, the guidance counselor’s is also a gold mine
Great rceommendation
my weak spot is the SAT: really ashamed of it but it was a 1650 bummed by that…
