Does anyone know......

How much importance IU-B puts on freshman year of high school? Because IU-B is my #1 choice for next year (Im a High School class of 2010) Because I really messed up my freshman year and my cumulative GPA is just around a 3. But if freshman year wasnt heavily looked upon, I would have around a 3.45(Junior and Sophmore years) . IU-B is my #1 choice and I really want to go here, do you think my poor decisions in the past have messed me up? I am also a Minority and I've heard that IU-B is trying to increase their diversity so I am hoping that will help alot.

Any opinions?

Thanks!

From what I know IUB, and mostly all other universities, considers your cumulative GPA throughout your high school career of all college prepartory classes taken in accordance with their course requirements for rising freshmen. This is not to say, however, that they do not ignore a rising GPA trend. If you messed up early on, and show a demonstrated improvement through time, colleges will generally look highly upon this. This is of course a generalization, so I advise you speak to admissions directly about this, considering this is your number one school and you will, I'm guessing, invest your time in trying to do anything to achieve admission. Good luck!

If you have good climbing grade trends, then your freshman year shouldn't be too much of a problem, as long as you've beeen doing well, taking honors/ap/advanced classes, doing well on your standardized tests...

yeah, Im taking 1 honors and 1 AP, My SAT is average, but I am taking it at least 2 more times as well as the ACT's. But my grades have SKYROCKETED from freshman year. I realized that I cant screw around anymore, thank god I did now and not later in life. But I am think I should contact all the Admissions offices of the schools I am interseted in applying too.
