Does anyone live in Copeley?

Hey I accepted my first housing offer to live in Copeley. Although it wasnt my first choice (I really wanted Brown), I accepted it because it gave me the one thing that I asked for which was a single room. All I keep seeing on facebook is how bad Copeley is so I'm just wondering is there anyone that actually lives in Copeley? I know one of the bad things is location but I can get over that. Whats so wrong with Copeley and what are some pro and cons of living there? I'm suppose to have one roommate in the apartment with me but it looks like housing cant find anyone to put in the other bedroom......maybe they'll just let me keep the whole apartment to myself.....i wish. :)

Cool beanz!!!

I lived in Copeley this past year—with three other roommates (two people to each room). Copeley is not that bad. Yes, it’s far from central grounds—approximately 20 minutes on the Northline bus. But it does have its pros: The living area and the kitchen is pretty spacious. You’re close to Barracks, which means easy access to the shopping area. You also have access to the law school library; it’s much less crowded than Alderman or Clemons. And even though you’re not supposed to study there during the law students’ exam time, you can still sneak in there. No one will pay you any mind. Another pro is the you’ll be close to North Grounds gym.

And here’s a little secret (which won’t be a secret after I tell you): If you have a car, you can park for free on Arlington Blvd.

See? Copeley doesn’t sound so bad afterall.

lol Thanks a lot! I feel a lot better about living there now. Its just that every where I look, I see that people dont wanna live there…well I guess its a good thing. I’ll have some peace and quiet. :)

HA! No problem! Yeah, lots of people talk badly about Copeley, and some of them have never even been to Copeley. Enjoy your peace and quiet. :)

I don’t know how it’ll be next year, but this past year the RAs were amazing! They randomly purchased bagels that they’d hand out at the bus stop (which is in front of the law school). And they held a lot of Copeley get-togethers. For example, on Superbowl night, they purchased wings from Wings Over Charlottesville (which are AMAZING) and watched the Superbowl in the louge. And we also had several s’mores nights by the grill.

omg… i just can’t wait to get there!! Im ready to see what it looks like at orientation! and did u just graduate or will u be there next year?

Hey now! Don’t get TOO excited! Bahahaha!

And nope, I’ll be around for quite awhile. I have three more years at UVA. I would have graduated in 2014, but I’m in the Curry School of Education.

lol thats cool. I actually wanted to do the same. But i have no Idea how to apply for it. I’m doing a History major first and then Secondary Education in Curry.

Actually, I’m doing Secondary Education in Curry in Social Studies. But instead of majoring in History, I’m majoring in Government.

What exactly do you have no idea how to apply for? The 5 year BA/MT program?

yeah thats the one im talking about. They said I dont have a good enough ACT score to get in right now…so what should I do? Apply later?
