The NYU website indicates that admission rates are higher for ED applicants. I wondered if that was true for Tisch (or the filim program in particular)? And, if so, how much does it increase your chances? Thanks!

i'm not sure about tisch specifically, but the admissions counselor told us that the regular rate was around 24%, and 33% for early decision.

My D applied and got in ED Tisch for dance. I think it is easy to be overlooked talent wise when you are auditioning or in a pool with a lot of people. Especially for the dance department where you are taking a class with a ton of hopefuls in the RD audition, or in ED you are one of 3 students auditioning with a regular class. I guess it depends on what department of Tisch you are going for. As an ED Tisch, you are less likely to get a good financial package unless you have amazing stats. You have already made a commitment when you aply ED so they don't need to entice you with money. The Tisch auditions/ portfolio count for 50% and academics for 50%, so keep that in mind. Good luck!

Across the board, applying early decision increases your chances. Early action doesn't increase chances at all (NYU doesn't do early action), but Early Decision does because they understand that you will without a doubt devote yourself to coming to that school if accepted.

Someone asked that question on the NYU bulletin board, and was told that about a third of Tisch's undergrads are actually ED. Which is a pretty big portion, I'd say.

yeah, but you get so much less aid.
