I'm thinking of getting EMT certified this next summer. How much would this help with colleges? a little, somewhat, or a hook?

I don’t think it’s really that useful for getting into a college…but, if you are getting it in case you ever have to perform any life saving techniques on someone, good for you.

It’s an achievement – but others who apply are also loading up. It’s neither here nor there. Something unique about you – but not a hook per se.

My feeling used to be that it showed responsibility and that there was some merit in working alonside adults in such a vital role. There’s recent argument about this. Apparently, kids mostly only get to drive. Still, if it’s a choice between this and mowing lawns or unboxing crates somewhere…

If you get your full EMT it will make a big difference in the kind of part-time and summer jobs you can hold before and during college. I say go for it.
