Does being Catholic help with Georgetown?

Many colleges founded with religious underpinnings are secular now...but i"m wondering if Georgetown is still a college that notices - and perhaps approves - of candidates who are active Catholics or with a jesuit education. Is religion noted on its application?

Yes, they do ask. I believe it does give a bit of a preferential boost.

While I have no true basis for this, I’m relatively sure that Georgetown does not consider Catholicism in your favor.

It’s asked, but it doesn’t do anything. I’m an atheist.

Religious preference is asked, but admissions preference is NOT given. However, two Theology courses are required of each student. This does not mean you have to study a religion.

I will offer a slightly different perspective (from my personal experience). When I applied to Georgetown (and I went to a Jesuit HS), every year Georgetown would send an admissions rep to present an information for the interested juniors and seniors (and you could argue that this doesn’t really mean anything per se) BUT the student with the highest GPA that applied to Georgetown from my HS would receive GSP scholarship (and if that person chose not to go, it would be awarded to the next student and so on). And I have heard some similar stories from people who went to other Jesuit HSs.

This by no means is a rule, but merely a few data points from personal observations. So does having a Jesuit schooling help with Georgetown admissions - it doesn’t hurt.

GSP is for underrepresented minorities or lower income students, so your point doesn’t make any sense, at least in a causal way.

Close - you’re referring to the Bellarmine and Ignatian Scholarships, rather than GSP. GSP is, as CSIHSIS mentioned, primarily targeted at first-generation college attendees and others from disadvantaged backgrounds.
