Does Carnegie Mellon admissions difficulty vary by major?

Is it harder to get in for Biomedical Engineering, or engineering in general, then it would be for Chemistry?

bump!!!

They look pretty similar from this link: [Admission > Admission Statistics](<a href=“Home - Computing Services - Office of the CIO - Carnegie Mellon University”>Home - Computing Services - Office of the CIO - Carnegie Mellon University)

I’ve seen that page, but before I put too much trust in it, do you know how it counts people who put a second, third or fourth choice?

They do differ somewhat as they consider a separate application for each department you choose. I know that CIT is more selective than Tepper for instance, and that the College of Fine Arts is also extremely selective. I would assume that since they read different applications for each department you apply to that some are more selective than others.

CIT more selective than Tepper? [Admission > Admission Statistics](<a href=“Home - Computing Services - Office of the CIO - Carnegie Mellon University”>Home - Computing Services - Office of the CIO - Carnegie Mellon University) Off this link? You better not be a CIT student because your estimation skills need some touching up. The quality of their respective student bodies however, is different if that’s what you’re getting at.
