Normally a extremely smart kid but dont think I'll do good on the sat

No. But right or wrong, doing poorly will put you behind other candidates.

Of course it doesn’t make you dumb. It’s a standardized test, and some people just don’t have the affinity for those.

However, if you think you’ll do badly, make the effort to do your absolute best anyway. Take a couple practice tests, and do some work on the sections you scored the lowest on. If you don’t do as well as you wanted, try again. In the end, if you have a solid GPA in a rigorous course load, but did poorly on the SAT, no college is going to label you as “dumb” based on that one score alone.

If you think you are not going to do well, study. It really does help. That being said, some people find it very difficult and can’t reach the “high” scores they want. You could try the ACT which might fit your learning style better.
I had terrible SAT scores as a student, I don’t think it was indicative of the ability I had then and it certainly did not hinder me in any way.

I’m going to a jc but took a practice test and got a 1200. I would like a 1700

It doesn’t make you dumb, but there is a positive correlation between SAT scores and intelligence tests. Of course, what either of these really shows is up to debate.

With an r=0.81, the correlation is high but not very very strong. Getting a low SAT does not make you dumb. But perhaps the other ways is true. ;-)

No more than doing well on an SAT will make you smart.

NO! Also, remember that not getting into the university of your choice as a senior in high school is not the end of the world. You still have many other options. As long as you consistently work hard, you will be able to find success!

Well said ACTWizard!

When I first took the SAT, I had no idea what was going on. When I first took it, it was around the 1100 area. But I practiced and got it up to 1900, at which point it became abritrary to get a 1900. With SAT, it doesn’t matter if you’re smart or dumb; anyone can get a 1700 if you just practice and get accustomed to the rulings and wordings CollegeBoard uses. There are many SAT prep courses out there, some are free! Try to use those and just practice the tests, eventually you’ll get the hang of it!

Does doing bad on the sat make you dumb?

Naaa… but askin that question makes (at least a potential) ■■■■■… sorry brutal truth…
Read through CC man

Thanks and to clarify no ■■■■■ here
