Does every applicant get interviewed?

My D has applied to 5 Ivy League schools, among a laundry list of other schools. She has been contacted and interviewed already with alumni from Harvard, Brown, and Penn. No notification from Cornell or Yale, so just wondering if all applicants get contacted for interviews at those schools. We have a close family friend, who lives in a different area of our state, their D has had her Cornell interview already.

Thanks for any input.

No, every applicant is not offered an interview. Depends on availability of volunteer interviewers in your geographic area. Interviews are informational only. If offered one, your D should attend, as she will probably learn some interesting info, but they are not used for admission purposes.

Every applicant gets interviewed if he/she is a Hotel applicant or AAP applicant, as these are required by admissions for these schools. All others really are interviews per se, but informational meetings conducted by local CAAAN volunteers in your area.

SHA applicants need to request an interview on-line. I do not know how the process works for AA&P. And I guess I should say that I don’t know what happens if an SHA applicant fails to request an interview, but the CAAAN interview will not suffice. There are SHA Alum interviews for students who are unable to travel to Ithaca, and those interviews follow the format of the SHA on-campus interview.

No bearing at all on chances for admission for programs in which interviews are not required. We live only 1 and a half hours from Cornell & my D was never contacted for alumni interview, but was accepted.
