SMC is in fact #1 in rejections from UCLA because EVERYONE who attends SMC wants to go to UCLA.

Ok, not everyone. Almost everyone. I want to go to Cal. :)

Yet it's not that bad, in the 2005-2006 year UCLA admitted 47% of its applicants. (1,449 SMC students applied, 695 got in).

Anyway, back to the original question. I really don't think it matters which community college you attend. Just do well at whichever school you go.

thats stupid, going to SMC wont do you any good if you aint got no brain...people need to realize that whatever cc they go to wont matter. Same thing goes for HS.

OMG magic mountain is so god damn hot. i had 5 lemonades in one day when i went there with my senior class last year....i felt like we were on the sun.

ok i just visited SMC.
Had to wake up extra early to get there since i got work later.
The moment I saw SMC...
"ghetto".. yeah.
And for the first time, I felt so grateful to be attending COC.
I shall never think ever again about attending SMC.
Almost a third of the students were Asian, and other third hispanics, and could barely see any caucasians.
And counselors were so damn rude, and the place was just absolute mess and crazily loud and all.

Most of the science faculty have PHD and have taught at top schools like UCLA, Cal, etc.

If it sucks so mcuh can u explain why so many people commute there and it's still by far the number one in transfers admitted. People commute 60+ miles just to go there.

I think it sucks because the faculty I have come into contact with have been complete morons or they are completely rude or both. I agree I should not have said the entire faculty. I have never taken a science class there. The counselors there are horrible lazy drones though. I could not find one competent person in the office. Because of my horrible experience I will no longer be going there in fall. To quote from Wedding Crashers "I don't want to talk about what happened because it is just going to make me angry." or something like that. Basically everybody said SMC was so great so I tried it. I do not see anything special about it. The classes were the same as all my other classes the only difference was the faculty.

highschoolda, im sorry but your argument isnt valid because every school has teachers from UCLA, UCBERK and even harvard; it doesnt matter where the teachers get their PHd from but whether or not they use it correctly.

DAMN! COC PWNS SMC!"

Hahaha, I wouldn't want to call any school in Santa Monica 'ghetto'. However, I do agree with you that COC is pretty bad ass. :)

It's not. But when u use the words "sucks" it doesn't make it a very good argument. The school is not for u. thats fine. If u're talking about counselors, yeah they are some bad ones.

All schools do, but i think SMC has more than usual. The fact the well qualified teachers are choosing smc over other schools is a good sign.

I don't need to defend smc, the fact that it produces most transfers speaks for itself and shows that they know what they are doing.
