Like if I were on campus and I wanted to go see something like Star Wars Episode III on May 19th, where would I go????Or could I go at all?

lol. The Gap. that's it. so i'm told. sentence. sentence.

SWEAR!!!! Is that true?!?!?!?

omg... i wanna know, too...

The Nugget Movie Theater has new movies, so you'd be able to see Star Wars. I've gone to the Nugget a few times, but Dartmouth generally offers enough movies on its own to keep me happy. The Dartmouth Film Society gets new movies to come to the Hop, which are really cheap to go to (I would recommend getting a film pass in the beginning of a term, $12 for 24 or so movies.) But not all the film society movies are new; they pick movies to go with their theme. This term's theme was "Heat Wave," and they played Motercycle Diaries, Blazing Saddles, the Incredibles, Unfaithful, Hotel Rowanda, and Closer, among others. Dartmouth's Loew theater also plays a selection of movies for pretty cheap and those tend to be newer. There are also a bunch of one-night "specials" for $5, and I don't remember all of them, but this term I know they had Ray, Merchant of Venice, and In Good Company. Anyway, Dartmouth has one of the best Film Departments in the country, so don't worry about a lack of movies.

As for clothes...do most of your shopping elsewhere. There's the Gap, several expensive boutiques with really cute clothes (Bella, Juliana), and a few more stores with ugly/weird clothes but I don't remember the names. Restaurant-wise I'm pretty satisified, especially because almost everything has free delivery. Anyway, I'm procrastinating studying for my final tomorrow, so if you have any more questions about Hanover let me know. There are also some cool things in nearby towns, like Norwhich, but I haven't explored those very satisfactorily yet.

can you imagine.... "hey guys, i'm bored. let's go to The Nugget tonight!!"

Oh, another note on movies...We saw one of the first viewings of "Sideways" ever. The film society honors a cool movie person every year and invites them to accept their award, and this year they awarded Sideway's director, Alexander Payne, so he came and talked to us. He also brought a reel of "Sideways" which he said was better than the one's playing in theaters because the coloration in theaters came out all funny (compared to his artistic vision of the film, at least). I'm bummed that I didn't go here when they invited Johnny Depp a few years ago.

Please oh please tell me there is at least one good Chinese restaurant in Hanover. :o

Panda House offers Chinese and Japanese cuisine, I like it, and it delivers. It's not the best in the world, but it's good. I really like Mai Thai as well, if you're into Asian cuisine.

If you know someone with a car and want to make a day (or night) of it, there are a lot of restaurants just a little bit outside of Hanover. My friends went to a Japanese steakhouse called Koto yesterday in West Leb that they really liked.

Panda House is closing in a few weeks.

seriously? sorry calidan, sucks for you. wg, do you know what's going it its place?

oooooh does it have to do with the whole credit card fraud thing?

Rage panda is closing??? No way! It has to be because of all the illegal workers...

it definitely has a nice, cheap movie theater...my mom and I were shocked at how cheap it was compared to here.

Molly's had such good food...yum...my mom always calls it Molly's Balloon, i'm not sure why...

That actually might be a deciding factor for me... I don't know if I could go to school somewhere that doesn't have a good Chinese restaurant. :p

I guess I could take the bus to some other city once a month or something... that might not be too bad. :(

There are rumors that J. Crew will be coming soon.

Yeah, Panda House was shut down due to the whole credit card thing--it was expelled by its landlord over it.

And I actually thought my credit card was going to survive my four years there... obviously I was gravely mistaken. :D
