if more than one kid applies from the same high school to the same college, does it hurt my chancse a lot? even if we apply to different schools within the college?

Um....A lot of people would say "yes," but I dont think so....

Example: There are 83 kids in my graduation class...5 applied to Stanford, all 5 got in...(And they are not the "top" 5 in the class...)...4 of them are actually going to Stanford (the 5th is going to MIT)...

However, its not going to help you either, but they will not specifically compare the two applications from the same high school any more than they will compare your app to the rest of the app pool....

hmmm thanks =D

Does it help if you are the only one from your school?

I think it really depedns on the svhool. I think the only time it really hurts you is in the small liberal arts schools. They only have so many slots for the freshmen class period and they tend to look for some geographic diversity in them. Vassar for one openly admits to comparing peopl within schools as well as among other applicants.
