this topic has probably been beaten to death, i know. i'm in a semester-long bio class (in addition to year-long anatomy phys). it's the third week, so i can drop it without getting a withdraw grade. when i signed up for it last year, i was much more interested in science then, i didn't realize how hard it would be to take two science classes at once, and i've become such a hypochondriac since then that i hate hearing about diseases and things like that...it stresses me out, as stupid as that sounds. the teacher said it was ok; i just have to get parental permission and such. i just wanted to take it a bit easier this semester. i'm going to go from having 0 free periods to 1 free period. biology bores me to tears. anyway, does it look like i'm slacking? and do i have to email every single school i've applied to and tell them i've dropped it?

Actually, it’s more normal for the GC to file an optional report explaining the schedule change. But, yes, either you or the GC does need to notify your schools.

My S has been admitted ED to his college. He just started his 2nd semester and decided he really wanted to drop one of his elective classes( Astronomy). He already has 4 years in English, Math, Science, History and FL, so probably not a big deal. He decided he really wanted a free period for the first time in HS. He is also doing a very intensive independent project( directing and producing a play) and wanted to spend more time on that. His GC is mentioning this in his optional/mid year report, but my S also emailed his admissions rep.
