Does it matter?

I'm taking 7 classes at two different California CCs this fall... So I will be able to graduate by the end of this year with honor and IGETC certified... Will that look OK on my application? Because I'm not plannin to take anymore classes during the Spring... it won't affect my application decision right? Thanks!!

Where are you applying to?

All UCs and USC. Econ major, currently have a 3.55.. but should pull up to a 3.70.. since all my major requirments are done... and with only the 100s GEs left.

Sorry for all the questions...but by graduate do you mean completing your honors program?

No. I didn't join any honors program. By the time that I thought about joining... i already took all the classes that are offering in honors...

Wow so you'll have a semester off. Sweetness. I'm not sure if that'll affect the adcoms decision but you should have considered spring transfer (some of the UCs offer it). Good Luck!

Thanks! Anyone else know more info about this? Please share, thanks!

First off, HI, it looks like you are in a situation a bit similar to mine.

I spoke to to one of the Berkeley transfer advisors and she said she would rather see you take classes in the spring instead of being "academically idle." This is seen negatively by the adcoms. If you do decide not to take anything in the spring, it is a good idea to discuss that in the comments section and personal statement. If at all possible you should try to take something in the spring.

I think they are worried you will transfer "cold" and have trouble working up at the university level after such a break.

i applied for winter & just crammed all the classes i have left to take into my fall schedule but if i don't get in & have to re-apply for fall then i'm only taking a fourth semester in french, economics, & some art class in the spring. that isn't really 'idle' is it?

The main concern was not taking ANYTHING in the spring I think.

I want to add: a counselor at my CC told me taking off the spring wouldn't be bad at all; she recommended it. Obviously it is best to talk to the people AT the school(s) you intend to transfer to as this was certainly a case of conflicting advice.

Thanks alot. And I agree with the transfer "COLD" one... thx for the advice, I shall talk about it w/ my advisor!
