Does MIT require teacher references as well as the teacher evaluation form?

What I'm trying to get at here is that nowhere on the admissions page does it mention MIT wants reference letters from teachers. However, it is clear that the teacher evaluations need to be filled in and submitted by the teachers of your choice. Is this meant to be a substitute for reference letters or do both reference letters and teacher evaluations need to be submitted? And if so, how?

The teacher evaluation form needs to be completed in some capacity. Different teachers choose to do this in different ways – some just fill out the application form, some write a letter that addresses the points in the form within the body of the letter, and some fill out the application form and write a letter in addition. Any of these strategies is fine, but I suspect that the last is the most common.

The evaluation form and any letter accompanying it are then submitted by mail to MIT.

Thank, it’s much clearer now :)

Apply -> Freshman Applicants -> Letters of Recommendation

Did you find this unclear? Or did you not come across it? What page were you looking at?
