I would like to live in a single, but don't you need proof that you have a medical condition that requires you to live in a single?

It depends on the school. Go to the housing dept. and talk with them. Why don't you try putting yourself in your roommate's shoes for a moment. How would you feel coming back to your room to a roommate who doesn't interact and would rather sleep or sit in front of computer rather then associate with you? You may enjoy silence, but for some--silence is deafening.

If you have something that you want to discuss with your roommate, just do it. You've spent a lot of time trying to get answers about this on CC. It's a lot easier to just talk with your roommate and discuss this stuff with him.

Does he stalk girls and fantasize about shooting people? If yes then get him help.

If he not then he's probably just an introverted person...in that case leave him alone.

Sounds like he has Aspergers.

PS: OP, if I was your roomie I would get the hell away from you, you *ing ass hole. I hope you rot in hell *er.

nysmile, I already put myself in my roommate's shoes. That was the premise of this thread. lol.

pmvd- I agree about your roommate. I know he wants you to get out and meet people. Cut him a little slack, I mean at least he cares about you enough to want to help you. I don't think he really cares too much about if you make friends though. I know many people with roommates like you and they only get annoyed because they want the room to themsleves every once and a while. It's very hard going to college and no longer having any privacy. I mean you don't even have your own room. Sometimes it's just nice to come back to an empty room so you can call home in private or just have a little alone time. You are sharing a room, so it would be considerate to leave every once and a while. Like, go to the library and study or get coffe, a snack or just hang out in the lounge in your dorm. Your roommate situation could be WAY worse. So you don't get along, why do you care so much what he thinks? He's not your friend.

True, at least he cares about me, but he indirectly conveys the message that he perceives me to be abnormal and in need of professional help, just because I am asocial and have low social skills. Sometimes I wish he didn't care so much about me.

I suppose that my roommate situation could in fact be WAY worse. At least my current roommate "cares" about me, now imagine if I lived with another person who constantly ridiculed my lifestyle and treated me like garbage. Oh wait, my roommate does that sometimes, but in a lighthearted manner, of course.

Atleast you didn't have 3 roommates like I did last semester...Maybe your roommate is attracted to you sexually or somethin, because the first time I saw that my current roommate was antisocial I decided to just leave him alone and do my own thing.

ok what? no.

Roommate huh?

Read the thread new-student. The OP admitted to being the “roommate”.
