During my junior year I received a D+ the second semester of Algebra 2 but a B the first semester. Does this one D disqualify me from being admitted into a CSU school (Sacramento State)? For my entire high school career I have only received As and Bs and that D is my only “bad grade.” My GPA as of right now is a 3.56 and I ended this 1st quarter of my senior year with all As and one B.
- Are you taking a higher level of Math this year?
- A D 2nd semester for Algebra 2 means you do not meet the CSU math requirement unless you pass a higher level Math course Senior year with a C or higher.
Math (4 years recommended) including Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, or higher mathematics (take one each year).
If you do not repeat that semester of Math then the D will be included in your CSU GPA. Does your current GPA include that D?
You should be fine if you repeated the semester or are taking the next higher level of Math and pass.
You may to to submit Mid year grades to CSU’s to confirm you are passing your classes.
If you do not repeat the second semester of algebra 2 or complete a higher level math course that validates algebra 2, then you do not meet the math requirement for frosh admission to CSU.
Have you gone in to review all the classes you’ve taken and your CSU eligibility with your counselor?
Contact Sac State admissions by phone today and ask. You may still have time to re-take the semester on-line.
