from year to year?

I was thinking the same exact thing. I want to get an early start.

It'll be up in August. Enjoy your summer.

cujoe, if you don't get in i think i'd be really sad for you.

I hardly doubt that the essays might change... however... one question is set in stone..

Why Penn?

that is a set in stone question that all applicants must answer...

for others... in AUG

Another question unlikely to change is a short essay (300 character limit) on what you consider the most important moment in history and why. While the replies in these threads tend to focus on the long essays (personal statement and why Penn), I was told by an adcom that this is a favorite because it gives them real insight into how a candidates mind works.

There is also a short essay (300 character limit) that asks you to tell something about yourself that it not readily apparent from the rest of your application.

Make sure that your essay shows your passion for Penn and be as specific as you can about what interests you there. Especially if you're applying early decision they want to know that you're applying because you want Penn more than any other school, not just because you think e.d. will improve your odds. My son got in early and I speak from experience.

I was under the impression that they were changing the history one. The "Why Penn" essay is a shoe-in, though, definitely.

Still, my advice is enjoy your summre.

I just realized my comment "I speak from experience" sounds pompous. My son had something very unusual happen after he had submitted his application. Admissions wanted to make sure he truly wanted to go to Penn.

What were past submisions by accepted applicants to the history question?

There is a whole and thorough (and comical) discussion about this on Pennster, but that wouldn't help very many people on this forum wondering about it...

For the history, try to be creative. A lot of people put their own birth and the birth of Jesus, so those will not set you apart unless your explaination does. I think the printing press and the beginning of time also falls under that category. But people have gotten in with pretty much everything. So be yourself, and don't try to shadow people who have gotten in. That will only make you look like a lot of other people in a game where you are trying to make yourself stand out.

which essay do you think will be easier, p.217 or first experience? i'm leaning towards first experience cuz i might be able to use it for other colelges

pimp, i think that depends on your own experience...try a simple outline for both and see which works...i did the p.217 and found it very easy to do

just do the page 217. I used my common app essay for that one. Its the easiest

where have you guys found these essay topics?

are they somewhere on the internet?

and how do you know they will stay the same for this year?

thanks... :)

they were the same for me last year as they were for my brother 5 years ago if that's any indication...

My history essay declared the invention of the bread slicer as the most important moment in history ("best thing since sliced bread"... it's gotta be revolutionary). My "page-217" essay was about my sick obsession with my Rubik's Cube

legendofmax, i own the Rubik's cube, my record is 32 seconds

I thought the first experience essay was better than the biography. shrugs
