Hi I am applying ED I to Holy Cross and am interested in the pre-med program; however, I have been told that it is very difficult to get into. Does applying with premed as one of your interests hurt your chances at getting in? I am wondering if I should just but biology (my intended major) on the member questions list of intended majors instead of biology and premed. If I intend on majoring in biology, would I still have a much lower chance at getting in? If so, should I just apply undecided and then try entering the premed program. Honestly I am not certain on how the admissions to pre-professional programs work at this school.

I’m not too sure with the “intended major” thing that you’re talking about. But, when you apply to Holy Cross, you do not declare a major nor do they ask (I think). Every freshman is undeclared. What I do know is that after acceptance and taking certain classes freshman year, you need to apply to become a biology major at Holy Cross.

Because every student now enters undecided, a student’s interest or intended major in NO WAY influences their admissions decision.

Entrance to the biology major and the pre-health advisory program is dependent entirely on your performance at Holy Cross. It requires at least a C average in the introductory biology course and at least one of the introductory courses in chemistry, physics, or geology. By the end of your freshman year, a student can officially enter the major and/or advisory program, contingent on these grades.

Best of luck!
