Does the number of times you take the SAT count?

Would admissions officers take into consideration the number of times you take an SAT?

Like for example, would be take a person who took the SAT once and scored a 2100 over someone who took it twice/thrice and scored a 2200?

Or do they just take the raw numbers and compare?

I'm asking cuz I'm considering taking the SAT again, and it'll probably rise 50-70 points.

I would think person 2 but i'm not sure. I want to know too.

I think it depends on the school.

But I believe MOST private schools would take the person with the 2200....

Usually and admissions secretary just takes the highest from each section and gives that to the person making the decision. They'll probably never even know it was taken more than once.

ALTHOUGH I'm not really 100% on any of the above. :-)

The maximum number of times you can take it without it looking wierd is 3. Taking twice is a very good idea if you want to boost your overall score because many colleges simply combine your highest subsection scores. Also, as to your originial scenario, the guy with the 2200 would look more impressive. So YES you should definately take it again, even if you aren't that sure your score will go up.

Haha well...my situations a bit different from the 2100/2200. I actually got a 2330. The only reason Im considering taking it again is because the only section I missed points in was writing, so I'd only have to really focus on that one section for the test. Does that change things?

Vissanik, that statement is simply ... incorrect and without foundation.

Xiggi is correct.

They should sticky this thread

The final decision maker will not see how many times you took the test, so, don't worry about that..

I am confident in saying that, in the first time, they will see you through superscore, not just score. though, they will know the trend..weird it is...

Believe me, I am sure of this..Because I know someone who is involved in admission process.

To sum up: this isn't an issue to worry about.
