I applied to the University of Minnesota on October 20th. They said that they do a rolling admission decision beginning in October. A friend of mine who applied at the same time as me to the business school heard that he got in two weeks ago. Another friend of mine who applied after me heard today that she got into the college of liberal arts. I am just wondering whether it takes them longer to do biological sciences decisions or if this means that I didn’t get in.
The order they send out acceptances isn’t necessarily the order of when they received the application. Waiting a little longer to hear back from them does not mean rejection.
Also waiting on CBS. Submitted around 10/20 and the portal says everything complete on 10/28.
Some CBS admissions came out the first day. But this is a really busy time, because the early deadline was Nov. 1, so they probably just have a lot of applications to look at. Don’t worry yet.
What were your stats? What did you put as a second-choice college?
There’s been speculation that they generally admit the strongest candidates earlier, and wait to decide on the others, but nobody really knows exactly how they do it.
My stats were 27 on the ACT and 3.98 GPA and I’m in the top 5% of my class. I applied for CBS and Liberal Arts as my 2nd choice college.
@collegeapply0020, my son got into CBS already. I don’t think that just because you haven’t heard yet doesn’t mean you won’t get in. They get 1000’s of applications they have to read. Patience is hard but hang in there.
@collegeapply0020 ACT is a little lower than CBS’s middle 50% but top 5% of your class is good. Depending on the rest of your application I’d guess you have a good chance, and I’d be very surprised if you didn’t at least get into CLA. You just might need to wait a few more weeks. Good luck!
My son applied mid September to CLA. ACT 30, uw 3.9. He has yet to hear anything, and is hoping to study linguistics and a few foreign languages. I do feel like he is one of the few from area who hasn’t heard from MN yet. We are OOS.
So I feel like now maybe it is a bad sign if we haven’t heard - sounds like a lot of acceptances have come out. Does anyone know when rejections come out?
@TheFrenchChef, I don’t think it’s a bad sign. What is your stats? My son had a 35 ACT and 4.46 GPA and ranked 6th out of 517 in his class. They definitely admit the highest stats first but that doesn’t mean you won’t get in.
CBS freshman here! trying to alleviate anyone’s stress if you’ve applied to CBS, my stats were 29 ACT, 4.16 w GPA, 3.84 uw, 8 AP, 9 honors, and 1 dual enrollment course. Top 10% roughly of my graduating class. I had other activities too.
You guys got this! I was stressed out waiting for a decision too! Good luck to everyone on their college journey! If you have any questions about CBS feel free to reach out! `
