in all honesty, they pretty much just use UW GPA. All Weighted GPA shows them (relative to your UW GPA) is how many AP/IB classes you took. Besides your transcripts, that’s how they look at how hard your course load was.

They look at UW FAR more than they do weighted, and they weigh GPA VERY heavily, so in all honesty, your GPA will definitely hurt your chances of admission. (but really not that much because a 3.5 in reality isn’t THAT low)

Looking at all your stats, as well as being in-state, with your 32 and in-state residency, I’d say you have about a 70-80% chance of being admitted regular decision.

are you still a Junior? If so you definitely have time to get that GPA up, even to a 3.7 or so would be a phenomenal boost to your application, as well as better test scores if you can get them. If you apply early with legacy status and in-state residency, I really don’t see why you would be rejected.

That’s in the past. Michigan no longer recalculate your GPA … and it is effective this season.

“… the University of Michigan will no longer recalculate grade point averages for freshman and transfer applicants to the University. For the evaluation of our entire Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall 2010 applicant pools, we will utilize the cumulative grade point average posted on the student’s high school transcript, for freshman applicants…”
