And do they base their decision based on UCB and UCLA's ratings?

No, they do not read personal statements. I have no clue if they use those ratings, but I doubt it.

Last page, 4th column.

No they dont read personal statements

Nope. Had a friend write “I can’t wait to be a bruin” on his personal statement and he still got into ucsd lol.

well SOMEONE reads it but its not supposed to effect your decision. But, I’m sure if you wrote something like I hate nggrs, spcks, and chnks and i didn’t care for the star wars franchise very much then it will definitely sway them one way or another

YES!!! They actually do read up your PS, I was directly told so by an admissions officer. Now does it factor into their decision? No. At the moment, UCSD doesn’t do holistic reviews and your decision is heavily determined by your GPA and pre-requisite completion like most of the other UCs.

And there’s absolutely no communication between admissions at UCSD and UCLA/Cal, or at the very least that’s the position they maintain on the surface. It seems to be valid as there were cases of people actually getting rejected by UCSD and than accepted to UCLA or Cal or both.
