Do they award any scholarships to out of state students?

They are extremely limited and if you get one, you are lucky. DD had great stats but didn’t get any significant amounts. It’s a university funded by Washington dollars, so they aren’t going to do a whole lot to pay for OOS students.

For the incoming class (freshman this fall) they did a pilot of giving $3.5 million in scholarships to out-of-state students. They stated it was for extremely qualified students.

Last year the state legislature told them they could raise tuition but had to use some of the extra tuition for financial aid. That is why they have the $3.5 million for out-of-state scholarships. According to the UW, none of that money comes from in-state students or tax dollars.

There aren’t very many scholarships for in state students unless they’re low income and qualify for the Husky Promise. So for out of state don’t put your hopes on getting anything substantial, if anything at all.
