Don't be too scared if you didn't make EA deadline

All I want to say to the other people who are applying next year or in the future that even though Michigan seems really stringent on their EA deadline of Nov 1, it's ok if you don't make it precisely on the day. I'm not saying that you can apply Nov 15 and still get in the deadline.

What happened to me was I submitted everything (i.e. school grades, letters of recommendation, essays) all on Nov 1, but as an international student, I messed up sending my SAT. So I sent them in only on Nov 1 and they received them on Nov 7. I thought that I didn't qualify because I messed up, so I called the office and sent multiple e-mails. Anyway, I just got the e-mail:

"We are pleased to confirm that your University of Michigan freshman application is complete and will be reviewed in our Early Action program.

We will contact you if we need any additional information and appreciate your patience as we review your application. Your decision will be released by December 23, 2011."

Well a good chunk of the east coast lost power in a Halloween snow storm, so most schools extended the deadline.

I know, because I also applied to Chicago and they sent an e-mail saying that. I’m an international student from Asia.
