Don't give me any crap for this.

You aren't better than me.

But, what do you think is an easier major? Sociology or Psychology? (At Berkeley and UCLA.)

I would think sociology… just because it’s the most subjective of the two disciplines.

pretty sure i’m better than you…

but yeah sociology is probably easier

Hands down, sociology.

Sociology! I agree.

(I’m a Psychology major, btw!)

Thanks. It’s what I figured, I just needed some reassurance before I try and switch. (Of course I apply to super-competitive psych, and don’t even want it anymore. Go me.)

That depends on which side of human behavior you most intuitively understand and take the most pleasure from studying: our biological wiring and unconscious drives, or our social constructs and symbols. If you read a book by Michel Foucault or Judith Butler and feel like you need a cigarette afterwards, you’re a Sociology major. If Oliver Sacks elicits the same response, you’re a Psychology major.

good post.

Hey man, not to sound blunt or anything: why are you choosing a major based on its relative difficulty? If you’re not very interested in either, you shouldn’t be transferring, IMO. I’d wait another year until you find your niche. Truthfully, if you don’t enjoy your field you will not do well and may likely have a rough time after college.

I also agree with walkabout. Best wishes.

What, why are you switching though? Don’t switch just cause it’s easier. I mean, unless you don’t want to do psych anymore.

Thanks, but I’ll be alright. I plan on Law School, so it doesn’t really matter what I major in. All that matters is my GPA and LSAT. To be honest, try as I might, I really can’t find any field that truly interests me.

I’ve got a 4.0 after two years and just got into UCLA and Cornell. It’s a little ■■■■■■■■ (and annoying) for you say I shouldn’t be transferring. Thanks though.

Not.

You’re not better than me riley.

Always have and always will be! RAWRRRRRRRR.

Psyche might be more helpful for a future lawyer. You would screw everyone much more effectively.

And congrats on Cornell.

haha, that might be true. Good point.

And thanks!

I know I’m showing up late but this is absolutely the best way to start out a thread.

You aren’t better than me.

lol
lol
lol
lol

anyway what major did u apply to ucla & ucb for? u didn’t clarify. u just said psych and socio

Sorry about that. I applied as a Psych major. I hear it should be alright to switch from psych to soc because soc isn’t impacted like psych is. (Again, SUCH A HORRIBLE DECISION to apply as a psych major.)

Anyone read Outliers? It’s kind of what made me want to switch to soc.

If you took psychology then you might learn that prefacing something with “You aren’t better than me” screams insecurity. But Cornell is pretty impressive so maybe you’re better than me.

You are all interpreting my statement incorrectly.

“You aren’t better than me,” doesn’t imply that I am any better than you! Just that you aren’t better than me! We could all just be equal! Egalitarianism all the way!
