Don't want to take SAT to become National Merit Finalist?

Hi guys, I have a question, I became a Semi Finalist, and now I need to take the SAT for the first time. I already have a 35 on my ACT (w/ writing). I'm applying to Ivy League schools and such where score choice is NOT allowed.

I don't want to blindly have to send my score to these schools because I will be submitting some SAT Subject test scores, and they want all SAT scores period. I'm afraid I won't score nearly a 2350+ and don't want the extra pressure.

Any advice? Is it acceptable to just not send these very late scores? I have no reason to need them for admission anyways.

THANK YOU!

Send your SAT II scores now to the schools you’re interested.

Then, take the SAT in November or December and have that score sent to NMCorp.

You can choose not to send your SAT scores and instead only submit your ACTs.

Edit: Ignore my post. Didn’t see the bit about SAT IIs

@mom2collegekids, since I haven’t sent in my applications yet, I’m assuming you’re saying as long as I submit my applications first, then submit the SAT II’s, before I take the regular SAT, it’ll be okay? Thanks a lot.

^ You can send scores to colleges long before you apply to them. They just match them up to your application when they finally get it.

For the Ivies, you don’t need to be a NMF. They only give need based FA. They will look at your GPA, strength of schedule, ECs, essays and your ACT-35. They are going to love you, they don’t care that your NMSF never converted to a NMF.

You don’t have to submit apps first. You can send SAT scores NOW. That’s what people often do (that’s what happens with the free scores).

Schools will receive your scores, and when your app comes in later, they’ll match them up.

People who score 35 do reasonably well on their SATs even if they don’t score on PAR with the ACT score.

OTOH, if you submit your scores now to the schools and take SAT later, it is upto you whether you resend those scores.

Ivies are not a surething. If you choose to go to a school with merit money, you will some backups.

I wouldn’t miss out on the chance of all the scholarships for NMFs for the sake of avoiding sending a “low” SAT score to any Ivy (which given this other info probably would still probably be extremely high). If you don’t get into the Ivies, or the financial aid doesn’t come out like you hope, you will probably be kicking yourself for missing the opportunity for big scholarships at some schools that are still pretty darn good.
