Don't you hate it when some people have it easier than you?

Yeah so basically I hate it when some people have things so much easier than you. For example I tried out for a sports team freshman year. I didn't get it but some people who were good did. Then sophmore year I got in, but then so did people who weren't that good. I practiced so hard to get on the team and they didn't. Yet they still get in. I just feel angry that people who work hard don't always get things and other people do.

Also does it feel like younger generations get things easier? Like my AP History class was hard last year. Few people got A's. My teacher moved and the new teacher gives like everyone A's. Like I feel bad when college admissions come around and colleges see that they have a higher GPA though they may not have worked as hard.

And then just things like that.

Definitely. We have calculators, our forerunners had slide rules. Computations that took years to do a century ago can be done in seconds today. Math textbooks considered standard fifty years ago are considered difficult today due to their lack of pictures, user-friendly content, and review of previous material. The integrals that a few centuries ago were considered the most challenging problems in mathematics can now be solved easily by any random calculus student.

At least we get the perks of this too. And even today most of us have it a LOT easier than people from most other countries. (read: $$$)

yeah younger generations do get it easier. that same thing about the ap class happened to me too. we had it so tough and got all this pointless busywork and we complained about it. so this year, that teacher decided to eliminate it altogether. i guess older generations are just the guinea pigs for the younger ones

Sure I do.

Makes me work harder.

when i went to visit my 5th grade teachtet when i was in 8th grade she was telling us how much easier the kids nowadays hae it and seh used to ALWALSYS tell us how easy we have.

eh, when they have an unfair advantage (ie, cheating). I don't think its unfair for example, for someone to retake Spanish 1 in highschool if they've already taken it, etc. People always biatch at me for "having it easier" in Latin 1, 2, etc, even though my latin background was only like 1/4 of Latin 1 when I came

At my high school there are two groups--the rich and the not rich. I'm in the latter, the rest of my class the former. Sucks, but I work like hell.

It's so frustrating! Last year at my school there were two AP-Euro teachers. My teacher made us work our butts off. She was a really tough grader on essays too. The other teacher actually reviewed for tests by going over questions that appeared on the test and curved everything. It was so frustrating because my friends who were in the easy class never did their homework, never studied, never prepared for essays, and got higher grades then me, even though I would sometimes spend hours preparing for an essay. But that class as a whole did worse on the AP exam, which was kind of nice, but still they did decent! I probably have more knowledge then the kids in the other class, but when am I gonna need that?

I bet the kids in the other class have developed a horrible work ethic. I was in the same but opposite situation and can say from experience that those sorts of classes ruin good work ethic.

Welcome to life, college812. Get used to it and quit complaining.

why quit complaining, so long as you are doing your best

its okay to gripe, sometimes griping brings about change, too bad those people that complained about sitting on the back of the bus said something, shame on them

^Good point.

I have some "heavy work-load" classes and they have really helped in changing my work habits. Failure is a great motivator to an A-student :D . I was given two choices: do the work OR fail the class. Doing homework forces one to learn the subject because with many assignments, you have to know the material before you can do it.

And about the calculator thing: my pre-calculus teacher never lets us use graphing calculators. And pre-calc consists of a ton of graphing. It was a major setback, but you know what? You won't always be carrying around a graphing calculator to do everything for you :D .

And that brings me to technology in education as a whole. To be honest, I really hate all the technology my school is implementing into our curriculum. Sure, it may make things easier, but what happens when the power goes out, or when the system fails to work? We are screwed.....

Sometimes, I think that if the internet were to dissappear tomorrow, the human race would die :D .

I hate it when people have it easier than me, but I figure I have it easier than most people so I can't complain. I just wish I had money.

Everyone hates it, but there isn't much you can do about it. do the best you can with what opportunities you are given. Those people who were privileged in some situation will experience the same thing as you in another situation. You aren't alone as a victim of "unfairness." so take heart.

Welcome to swimming. Hard work usually does pay off. There are enough cases though where people just show up and just happen to be incredibly fast. One kid in his second year was the only kid from his school to go to state when a whole bunch of others had been swimming for much longer and year-round. It was only in the 50 freestyle, but it ticked some people off.

That happened to me the same year. There was a big in-team rivalry (I know those aren't supposed to happen but we hated each other) between me, then a sophomore, and another kid who was a senior. I started off the year faster in our event, but he destroyed me by the end of the year even though he barely ever tried in practices and did not swim year round like I did.

The next year my club swimming did pay off in a similar in-team rivalry. I didn't hate this kid as much, but we still had it going for each other throughout the year in the same event. Similar story in that I started faster, mid-season he got faster. But at district finals we were swimming right next to each other (he was seeded 4th, I was 6th) and I out-touched him by .01 second. Yes, a hundredth of a second. I made it to regionals, he didn't, and it was his senior year and not mine. I still think I deserved it though since I worked much harder. My hard work finally paid off then.

Wow.... don't you know thats life. Get used to it.

Who knows, you might win 100 million $ from the lottery one day, and die in a car crash the next. Life is like that. Just as long as you don't get suicidal and depressed from this notion, you're fine.

A lot of times, its not over younger generations, but over different teachers. There are many classes at my school where one teacher is a lot easier than another -hence, a lot more As-, and yet the class course looks the same on the transcript.

Don't hate it when people have things "easier" than you...seriously. So they got an easier teacher. Big whoop. One year, you'll get an easier teacher than someone else...you probably already have. Also, you don't know what a person is going through or how tough their life is. Oh, they got on the team. Oh, their math class is easier. Whatever. Don't wish you could trade places with a person who appears to have life "easier" than you just because they got one thing you didn't.

Also, good things do come to those that work hard. Everyone's time will come, and if you are an optimistic hardworker, you will succeed...either financially, as a person, or BOTH. In any case, you'll live a better life for it in one way or another. So instead of spending your time hating people, become a leader on your sports team, in the classroom, and help people learn and work hard. Feel sorry for people who put no effort into anything, because one day they'll get a rude awakening.

Hatred in this case only comes from jealousy and a feeling of inferiority. And if you work hard, what do they have to feel jealous of or you to feel inferior about? Get on with your life. Be concerned with how your progress stacks up against you, not against other people.

I know it sucks, but just know that even if other people don't work hard to get it - you still CAN get it if you work your ass off.

Did that make sense to you?

Anyway - I'm saying this because I got a 3.5, 3.66 as a sophomore and I thought it was because I was stupid. As a junior, I'm going to get a 4.5. Why? Because I'm serious about it now. I'm a true believer in putting your mind to it.

People can be unfair, but don’t let it get to you, cuz Karma-sooner or later- will bite them in the ass.
