Door to Door PLZ Explain!

hi i am traveling solo june 12th to bama for oreintation. i will most likely use birmingham door to door service because everyone seems to like it.

Can you plz explain whats its all about!!! How mcuh does it cost, when do they pick you up, where do you get picked up, when do you pay, where do they drop you off??? PLZ help

Birmingham Door to Door’s website is [Birmingham Door To Door “Our Name Says It All!”](http://birminghamdoortodoor.com/). You call and make a reservation (around $140+tip roundtrip) and when you arrive at BHM, go up from baggage claim (airport shuttles are on the departures level due to construction) and look for the van. They will drop you off wherever on campus you need to be and will pick you up at the same location. It is a shared ride service, so there may be other passengers. The drivers are really friendly, so don’t be afraid to talk to them.

Alternatively, you can see if anyone else is going to Bama Bound at the same time and ride with them. While this may not seem like the most legitimate route, the vast majority of families with students at UA are extremely friendly. If you take this route, give them some money, say $50, to help with costs.

I have found someone to possibly share my daughters shuttle for the May 29-30 Bama Bound. Is is fair to assume that we can now split the $140 or is that a per person charge?

Their website says that “multiple passenger discounts are available”. You probably just need to book together, pay together, and then split the cost between yourselves.

Don’t forget to check if gratuatity is included and tip accordingly.

The $140 roundtrip is per person. Other companies may be less expensive. The eShuttle would be around $200 for both, as would a limo/taxi service mentioned on another thread. Visit the Birmingham Airport’s website [BHM - Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport : Passenger Info : Parking and Ground Transportation](http://www.flybirmingham.com/passenger-parking.html) for options, noting that there may be some taxi companies not listed. Note also that you might need to choose a different taxi/limo company to take you back to the airport. UA Housing has a website [Student Affairs | Housing & Residential Communities](http://housing.ua.edu/off_campus/transportation.cfm) that mentions some companies, all of which have different prices. Ask for a student discount; sometimes you can get a taxi for $80 each way+tip. On Time Transportation has been recommended on this board before and I’m always seeing Sterling Limo Cab and Alpha and Omega Taxi around Tuscaloosa.

If I remember, it just doesn’t discount 50% if you add another. There might be other students on the van already? Maybe a $25 discount??? I would check. Also I think you need cash. We have used them many times though so very reliable. It’s just 1 or 2 guys so they may take awhile to answer your email if they are out in the vans, so phone is best if you need an answer quickly.

Here’s a list from an earlier post:

Son has used “On Time Transporation”, AKA tonystransportation… a few times.
Solo price $65/way. Tony is very nice.
