Dorm Appliances At Yearend

Our son's going to a school that's too far to drive to and which is notorious for the bad food. He's had a refridgerator and microwave in his high school dorm for the last couple of years, but that's close enough we can bring it home when the year ends.

Parents on other forums have recommended that we buy him new ones when we go up for freshman orientation. The question is, what do you do with them when the school year is over? We won't be able to get them home from that far away, of course.

I realize you can sell it for a fraction of what they're worth, but assume that there will be hundreds of students doing the same thing.

Suggestions?

My daughter's room mate for her next year lives near the College, so they're storing the D's fridge and microwave in the room mate's basement. Even if his next room mate isn't local, I'm sure he'll have at least one local friend who wouldn't mind.

local storage facilities.

"local storage facilities."

In my experience they cost more that the things are worth and we won't have any way to move the refridgerator.

Anyone renting?

usually schools have info on their websites about companies that will rent fridges to you, if they are available.. plus there are usually companies that will store stuff over the summer and pick it up at the dorms - lots of people use this at my school so it can't be that expensive..

Thanks, that helps.
