Received again letter from UMASS regarding bed sizes in the dorms and that sheets will be different from our standard home sheets. They offer to buy sheets and other bedding for $200 as standard package. Do anyone know about that? Thanks.
You need Twin XL sheets for UMass beds, as you do at every college. In August, you can find these size sheets at Target, WalMart, Bed Bath and Beyond etc. during back to school sales. Seems to be an even divide between people who order through RHL and buy from the store, but I ordered 2 sets and one comforter and they’ve been fine. Some people say upgrading to cotton makes them more comfortable. It’s up to you if you want to buy sheets through RHL.
Thanks @Violet1996, we will buy fitted XL sheets at Walmart and other bedding like blankets, flat sheets, quilt, he will bring from home.
D went to a women’s college, and their beds were all regular twins, so not EVERY college uses XL twins…just sayin’.
The bedding packages look to me like fair quality poly cotton blend stuff. Walmart has some twin XL comforter sheet packages in stock for about $50 that look to be similar quality. I just had to buy twin XL’s for my high school senior to attend a summer program. JCPenney.com has an excellent selection of twin XL sheets. Go to the website and search “twin XL sheets.” I paid about $22 for a set that had a five star rating. They have washed beautifully. You can open another browser and find a coupon code for free shipping. I also purchased a twin xl mattress pad as most college mattresses are upholstered in hard black naugahide like material to prevent bedbugs. You can use regular twin comforters, blankets or quilts. If the beds turn out to be regular twin length (75") the excess is easily tucked in.
I’d stay away from the packages that colleges offer. They are usually overpriced and of poor quality. Also, twin size comforters will fit an x-long twin bed. I think most co-ed schools use x-long twin beds as the twin size is too short for many men.
I think we got the same mailer, we ordered bedding from RHL for S. We didn’t take the upgrade…happy with the cotton/poly blend material.
