Dorm Chances

I apologize if this isn't the right place.

So I'm currently a freshman who got in this Spring 2012, and I'm living at home right now. However, I want to live on-campus this coming year, and I was wondering what my chances are in getting in the dorms. I sent my Housing Application (the $50) yesterday (02/16), and I know priority goes by that. So what dorms do I have a higher chance in getting in at this point? I know San Jacinto and Duren are a no-go, even if I WAS interested in them, but what about the others? I would prefer not to live in Jester, but that's better than supplemental and no dorm at all.

I'm a girl, by the way.

Thanks to whoever has any input.

You might want to consider getting on the wait list at SRD. It’s awesome!! It’s an off-campus private dorm, but is basically on campus.

Many of my S’s friends live in Jester currently. It is not as bad as most people think.

@pmarting: I just checked out its website. Isn’t it around $250 to apply? Mhmm, doesn’t seem that appealing. Maybe I’m missing something. I’ll consider it.

@sunnydayfun: I know that isn’t as bad as people make it out to be; I’ve been reading about both Jester East and West on threads here. I would just prefer a smaller dorm than Jester’s + 3,000. If I get into Jester, that’s cool and we’ll just thank my lucky stars that it’s not supplemental or nothing at all.

Does anyone know when on-campus housing usually fills up, making it too late to apply for it?

If you want something smaller than Jester, apply for BRP. (Although I’d still recommend Jester)

@sdremely: At this point, do you think I have shot at getting into them?

I’m in the same boat. If we just sent in our $50 dollars today, which should we try applying for? I really wanted San J but obviously thats not an option. Where should I try for? And theres a wait list?

we are in the same boat – visiting another campus out of state until this afternoon and just found out that my son has been accepted for the fall. I never put in a housing deposit/application because it was a remote chance for OOS students to be admitted.

Is it too late to get into housing? I stupidly assumed housing was a lottery like every other school he had applied to.

Are all freshmen even guaranteed housing? I couldn’t find that information anywhere on the UT website now that we are in panic mode.
