Dorm Dilemma

OK Guys need some help here. Daughter has been accepted for Fall 2008. She is from NJ but we are moving to SD over the summer. She made freinds on Facebook with a girl from Portland and they decide to be roommates. Problem is they are not sure where to live. They have it narrowed down to Tenochca or University Towers. Obviously Tenochca is more social, near all the action, etc., however the rooms at University Towers are sooo much nicer and even have a little sink/vanity/mirror area in the room which is way cool when you speend so much time doing your hair and makeup. University Towers is across the street from campus and not near any other dorms. Need instant advice since we are in the process of filling out the application now.

Thanks

I lived in UT (when it was called The Konk) for a year and loved it, even though it was further out. The semi-private toilet/shower was really nice, but I didn't spend much time at the sink doing hair or makeup. -Ron

Those are the 2 dorms that i was having trouble with also. But I'm going to be a junior transfer in fall 2008 and felt has an older student that UT would be better suited for me. However, if I was an incoming freshman, I would probably live in Techocha (that is where I heard the majority of freshman and sophomores live). But the 2 things that swayed me towards UT was the larger room and the semiprivate bath...oh and UT is nicer/never overall.
Hope this helps :)

How is chappy? I like that its newer and is also a traditional dorm. I know its farther away but you still have all the people in your dorm.

for transfers, i recommend UT. if you are incoming freshmen, i would go to tenocha just because you will be surrounded with other freshmen. if you are picky about newer furniture, go to chappy it's very nice compared to the other dorms but it is in the middle of nowhere. you can converse with people in chappy but living in the other part of the dorm area helps alot because you have 4 major dorms over there so going to visit a friend is a 2 minute walk versus 15 minutes.

I just PAINFULLY paid the 800 dollar housing application fee. I selected University Towers as my first choice and Villa Alvarado as my second choice.

Are you an incoming Freshman for fall'08?

I am a twenty one year old transfer student.
