Before, I thought I knew everything dorm related with wustl. However I was quite wrong. When I think of single, double and triple rooms I think of rooms that have 1,2 or 3 beds respectively. However, I visited the campus a while back and stayed in the S40 House. To my surprise, the room that I was staying in had 4 individual rooms with a common living space. How is that possible? Would the yearly room and board rate be cheaper?

South 40 House is a sophomore dorm, and it’s also quite new. Freshman housing isn’t like it.

K then which dorms are used for freshmen?

Mostly doubles. A few triples and a few singles.

As a freshman, you can choose from a single (most expensive), a double, or a triple (least expensive); then, you also have the choice between modern (suite-style) or traditional (hall-style) dorms.

Suite styles housing is usually 6 people living in a suit with 4 rooms and a large common room while hall-style is individual rooms with a really large common room that is shared with the whole floor. Hall- style students usually bond more and are more social which I really like!
