I’m confused. I have to submit another app if I wanted to say, dorm in the International Residential College? As that’s part of Parkside, right? Cuz I have IRC - 8P Suite has my 3rd choice. Are you saying I need to fill something else out?

Malik, I think it’s just for the special interest floors. The links to the supplemental app are on here at the very bottom (it says “here”). I think this form is supposed to pop up during the regular application, but it didn’t for my son either:

[Housing Options - Special Interest Communities](http://housing.usc.edu/HousingOptions/SpecialInterest.aspx)

any sophomore or juniors staying in dorms? Also which ones are the better dorms?

No, Arts and Humanities, International Residence, and Brinkrant definitely have supplemental applications even if you aren’t applying for a special interest floor. I filled them out, they are really short and easy.

I don’t know about others like New/North…

[Welcome (SupplementalApplications)](http://sites.google.com/site/uscsuppapps/)

If you read the page I linked, which leads to the link above, you’ll see:

“How to Apply for Special Interest Communities and Programs
Only some communities will require an additional application. If one or more of these special interest communities seems right for you, please be sure to complete the housing application and indicate the program(s) that match your interests as well as the required supplemental application”

It seems to be only special interest floors in those dorms require supplemental apps.

No offense but, Why would USC release a supplemental application for the residential colleges if it wasn’t required?

The Parkside one asked your interest in each type of Parkside living (A&H, Music Floor, International, Architecture…) then went through each one and said if you indicated an interest how can you contribute to the community. I point this out mainly because they also had it for the GENERAL living not just the special floors.

Same with Birnkrant.

Even if it isn’t “needed”, I would say fill them out just to be on the safe side. You never know, it might help to have it done if it’s a first or second choice…

Just going by the quote I cited above. I may be wrong, but I don’t believe you need to fill it out for every floor, just the one(s) you are interested in. There are other non SI floors in some of those dorms. Call to be sure but I don’t think the app is necessary for all those dorms if you want a regular ole floor! Oh and the General one is for general interest in arts and humanities. That is a special interest floor. Parkside may indeed require it for all rooms. I don’t think B does.

I agree with jazz/shreddermom. I believe that USC would have been much clearer about these supplemental apps if they were needed. I seriously have not heard anyone say that you’re required to fill out these supplemental apps even if you’re NOT interested in a special interest floor, until now. Which is why I am absolutely positive supplemental apps are not necessary unless you intend on applying to a special interest floor.

any sophomore or juniors staying in dorms? Also which ones are the better dorms?

Apparently you do need a supplemental form for all floors in Birkrant/New/North/Parkside/every other Residential College…

Well, I called the housing office and the residential college office today and was told otherwise. Only for special interest floors. So take it for what it’s worth. This is who I spoke to in the residential college office:

Dr. Jennifer Stevenson
Office for Residential Education
University of Southern California
213-821-5658

This is really confusing… I already filled the supplement either way, but information isn’t being sent out properly then, since some people seem to think you do need the supplement and then USC says otherwise when calling…

poncem, I suggest you call USC housing yourself, so you’ll feel confident you’re doing the right thing. Rather than taking what someone is saying on this or another thread (who is relaying what they heard) as gospel. Nobody here works for USC. That’s why I called myself.

Thanks for the advice, but since I already filled the form it doesn’t matter what the answer is I won’t stress out about it, but I do feel USC should be clearer, for the sake of everyone, not just me. Thanks anyway!

jazz/shreddermom, thanks for calling! :)

does anyone know anything about Regal Trojan? The rooms look nice from the virtual tour… how is the location? is it mostly upper-classmen?

I’m a spring admit and just got assigned to Regal.

It’s very nice, HUGE rooms. The only downside is that it’s pretty far from campus. No big deal if you have a bike though.

Hello, Im a fall 2011 exchange student. does anyone know which one is better Seaver residence hall and Fluor tower ?

Fluor is better.

fluor is definitely better.
