dorms

so my son and his roommate got a dorm in Gillette house, which looks to be the smallest of all houses. Any thoughts on Gillette house? Is it true that rooms can b as small as 136 sq feet???!!!

Son lived in Gillette, he loved the location. Closer to get to main campus and close to commons dining. Said was the best dorm to live in on the Peabody Commons. Do not believe it is the smallest, he said you really get to know the entire dorm, not just the kids on your floor in like in the the larger dorms. Was concerned that it was not one of the “new” buildings but there really is no difference once inside. He will have a great time. Room size was fine. Dr. Dobson (head of house) is a great person and a warm host.

How do you find out which dorm is assigned ?

There is actually an entire floor of unusually large rooms in Gillette-- I think it is the top floor.

But yes, some rooms in Gillette are very, very small-- Like basically enough room for the furniture provided and nothing else. It’s just a dorm – it’s not likely to be where your student spends most of his/her time!

The Vandy website has the 2014-15 Move-In and Housing Guide for First-Year Students, located at:

I had expected our son’s housing envelope would contain this booklet, but it did not. Should it have been included?

Received D’s housing info today. Sutherland House! Any pictures, tips, etc.?
We did not receive a hard copy of the Move-In Guide either. Perhaps they’re just being green.
