Does anyone know how the dorms are at Yale or have any pics?

I'm in a suite of six with a single in Bingham. The suite's layout has 4 singles and 1 double, as well as a common room. The double is the size of the common room (large), and our ceilings are about 10 feet high and we have hardwood floors. It's pretty damned phenomenal.

Here is a photo of Bingham: http://photos-243.ak.facebook.com/ip002/v46/20/124/1392900018/n1392900018_30008243_3464.jpg

one of the entryways:

I don't have any photos of our common room (that doesn't have people in it), but here's a photo of a common room from Vanderbilt: http://photos-624.ak.facebook.com/ip006/v34/102/80/315648/n315648_30445624_3006.jpg

Alas, my common room doesn't have that lovely wood paneling, but I think you're more likely to get a double in Vandy, and sometimes suites need to put there desks in the common room because there's not enough room otherwise (not so for us!). In any event, it's not a huge deal.

I personally think Bingham's exterior is the prettiest of the freshman dorms, but that's up for debate.

in any event, I'd say our housing situation is better than average, but not by much. There are the two story "princess suites" in Welch, plus the famous Vanderbilt Suite (there is ONLY one. Yale freshman dorms are great, but NOT like this. Sometimes freshman get it, sometimes FroCos): http://photos-623.ak.facebook.com/ip006/v34/102/80/315648/n315648_30445623_2662.jpg

Bingham is, however, better than Lanman-Wright, the freshmen slums of Yale. This is a highly relative term, as they're still fine (and then they go on to beautifully renovated Saybrook and Pierson). L-Dub also has the benefit of being something of the freshman social center of campus because of its lovely patio.

Hope this was helpful!

Best,
DMW

very much! Thanks a lot

(I want that special dorm lol)

Dmw, are you in Calhoun or Trumbull? Also what entryway?

You can see my room in one of those pictures haha.

In two of the colleges (Silliman and Timothy Dwight) the freshman do not live in Old Campus with the other frosh, but instead live in their assigned colleges. Thre are pluses and minuses. They feel more a part of their college, but often feel excluded from the freshman hub.
