I might, I'll just see when I get there. Football and bball does sound pretty sweet.

syrstress

S lived in Sorin for 4 years and absolutely loved it. Yes, your son is in the basement. I can remember walking into his room his freshman year and saying Ugh however it worked out just fine. The rector is great. It is a relatively smaller dorm and the guys really bond - they are the Otters. Great location relative to LaFortune. The basilica is right there and there is nothing like getting used to bells tolling. My son would not have changed his dorm for anything.

yeah i can't wait to play for the championship in the stadium!!!

I am entering my second year in the basement of Sorin, so feel free to pm me if you like. Sorin is the best dorm. I know a lot of folks say that about their respective dorms, but no other dorm has the same combination of size, tradition, fame, and location. The basement is the worst section of Sorin because of the fact that you don't have the high ceilings, but the proximity to the kitchen and laundry room makes for great convenience. Sorin has a walking tour that I suggest you take when you get there. Also, a bit of an inside tip---Father Jim lets folks move in early if you show up early. I wouldn't ask him beforehand, but when I had everything ready to go a few days before dorms were supposed to open and decided to take a tour of my dorm ere moving in, he invited me to beat the rush. Don't forget, the basement of Sorin is better than a room anywhere else. Before they forced Sorin to conform to the lottery standard, Sorin was extremely difficult to get into, reserved for football players and special seniors. Consider yourself lucky.

If anyone is curious, the "a" or "b" after your room number means pretty much nothing. It technically means which space you occupy in the room (I don't know how they correlate) but the general rule seems to be the first person there gets first pick of side, etc.

Quads, though... I'm pretty sure you would have to be in your assigned room. Like my quad next year is room 345, but I'm in 344 and the two other guys are in 346, and the housing site confirms this.

Anything I should know about the newer dorms such as O'Neill (mine)?

seems to be far away from pretty much everything except South Dning Hall (Freshman 15 here I come...)

keenan is awesome. im lovin it.

Keenan love...

for modular beds, is it wise to just stack it up and make bunk beds to save space?

my roommate says he doesn't wanna be on the top bed. I think I'm okay with being on the top bed (if there's a ladder of course)

what do you think I should do?

I didn't find the freshman fifteen to hold true, at least while at school. If I gain weight, it's when I come home, haha.

The point of modular furniture is that you put your bed on top of your desk and your wardrobe. Each of you has an independent unit. So, both would be about 6 feet off the ground, and either both or neither of you would have the top bunk, depending on your interpretation.

Just to let you know - use the modular furniture. It will save you TONS of space and your roommate will get over being lofted.

ohhh that's what it meant... lol I thought we stacked the beds haha...

alright thanks! (still would greatly appreciate more info on O'Neill)

Well, theoretically, you could, but it would defeat the purpose.

Other than dd the girls don"t seem to be as passionate about therr dorm pride. I see alot more male dorm rivalry here

Girls like their dorms, guys don't like other dorms. It's a subtle difference.
