I know this has been discussed before but I want to restart it.
I have recently been accepted and I am considering attending.

1)Which dorms are the best? Why?

2)What is better: traditional or appt style?

3) How do choice(the substace free) dorms work? Are the people in them uptite? Is the entire building "CHOICE"? or just certian floors/suites?

4)Anything you would like to add/advise? Interesting facts about NYU dorms?

Any help would really be appreciated, thx.

I think that this works the same pretty much everywhere: it depends on what you want.

From the little research that I have done, it appears that all of the freshmen dorms are similar in the quality of room and size of room per number of roommates. From there, prices (including whether or not a meal plan is required), location, and presence of a dining hall seem to be the distinctions amongst them.

This is completely on you again. Do you want a kitchen and common area in your room, or do you care that these are shared amongst an entire floor? Apartments-style tends to be more expensive, but then you don't need a meal plan and may save some money if you know how to and are willing to cook.

No clue on this one.

http://nyuhousing.wikispaces.com/ is pretty helpful on this one. I think that its interesting that Brittany has a darkroom, really cool. And in general, some of the dorms still have that prewar look, interesting maybe? Haha

Sue that housing guide was super helpful. There were some great pics on there (which the NYU site is lacking) and getting the perspective of a student was just great.
