I am a Junior in High School with a 3.7 GPA out of 4.0. Haven’t taken SAT yet but have had lessons and feel good. I am thinking of Double Majoring + Minoring in a combination of Finance Accounting and Economics. I’m taking AP Macro and Micro Economics this year.
Any Advice?
You have plenty of time to consider a major. I would rather major and minor cause putting yourself on a tough workload will bring your college GPA down, which is bad if you want to apply for graduate school. Which universities have you been considering? Where’s your local area? The CSU system has well known accounting programs that cater to lower income families if you live in California. Cal Poly SLO, CSU Fullerton, CSU Long Beach, and CSU Northridge are excellent CSU’s for business. I also recommend checking UC Berkeley’s HAAS business school too. Your GPA looks good at the moment. Study hard your junior year and score well on your ACT/SAT. Take both multiple times until the December of senior year.
Finance and accounting are two different concentrations. So technically you have three concentrations you listed.
Thank You, I don’t have a major preference on location as I live on the East Coast but my parents are moving to the West Coast after I graduate. NYU, UCal Berkley (Dad knows guy on admissions) and a few others have been preliminary options but I am still looking.
Also which of the three does Business Administration most closely fit? I am just trying to find the whole scope of the business world, and explore all possibilities.
You need one year residency in California before you can get in state tuition rates. Otherwise you will be paying out-of-state rates which are near what the average private charges. Cal is a public university so they don’t play favorites if your dad knows someone. Only privates do that. And which of the three what? CSU’s UC’s?
