I have a few doubts with double majoring. I want to study BS Computer Science and BA Interactive Media. Can I major in both? Would I get 2 degrees?

Please help me, majors and minors really confuse me since in my country it works differently (I think :S).

I asked through e-mail, and here is the answer for everyone who is interested.

Dear Sir or Madam:

My name is Diego --------. I’m a Chilean student who wants to apply to USC for entry year 2012. I have a few doubts, since here in Chile universities have a different specialty system, so I having a few problems grasping what is a “major”.

I have read that one can get 2 majors in USC. Can one study BS Computer Science and BA Interactive Media in parallel? Doing this grants you both degrees? Can this be accomplished in 4 years?

Thank you very much

Diego,

This can be done, it’s called a second bachelor’s degree, NOT a double major. It’s unlikely that you can complete both degrees in 4 four years but perhaps in five years.

And is there a Interactive Media major or Game Design major one could take while studying Computer Science?

Diego,

Per my previous email you can get a second bachelor’s degree (you can do this at the same time) in Computer Science and Interactive Media. It can’t be a “double major” because they’re two different degrees: a B.S. And a B.A.

Thanks,
