double space common app essay?

I have an essay that will just fit one page single-spaced. I think it looks better and has a better impact on the reader if its in one bite-size page but might be harder to read...anyone agree/disagree?

If it's one page single-spaced, it's too long. Only supposed to be 250-500 words..that has to be over 1000. If you insist on sending it, keep it single and on the same page. Two pages will turn most adcoms off.

Um...with Times New Roman size 12 a one-page essay is around 500 words...my essay was on the Common App website, and it easily fit on their print-preview page.

IMHO, if you're doing this on paper, send it one-page single spaced. Better impression.

but double spacing makes reading much easier and adcoms know that a double spaced two page essay and a single spaced one page essay are the same.

What was the length supposed to be?
Writing long essays is likely to turn the adcom off unless you have them absolutely enraptured by your essay!
If the essay is supposed to be a single page, they typically mean 1 page, double-spaced.

the essay is no more than 500 words...so everyone agree on single?

Double spacing is more user friendly

Furthermore single spacing gives the appearance of being "too busy"
