Doubling Up In Science and Ivy Chances

I am currently a freshman and am approaching the end of the school year. Here are the courses I’m taking next year:

  1. Algebra II (Honors)
  2. Biology (Honors)
  3. Chemistry (Honors)
  4. English II (Honors) [Most likely, haven't received a confirmation yet]
  5. French I
  6. Drafting/Architecture II
  7. ROTC/Health II

I am doubling up on science and taking a course most freshman take and sophomores don’t (Biology); would this ruin my Ivy chances? The reason I am taking Bio Honors next year is that I screwed up in middle school and was not able to make honors freshman year, and was placed in lower level classes, including science.

No

The only problem I see with your schedule is that you don’t have a social studies class. I think it would actually be better for you to save chemistry for junior year and take some sort of history.

@r2v2018 I can’t; my school only allows us to take history classes Freshman, Junior, and Senior years.

Then your schedule is fine, period.

@r2v2018 Thank you!

Anyone else?

It looks great!

Have a good day!

So there’s nothing to change or improvise on? @anthonytheboy

I think you are asking the wrong question.

Will it ruin your chances? If you do poorly.
Why didn’t you take Honors Bio as a freshman?
That is the typical progression for a smart student.
But now you are jumping to two honors sciences?
i think that may be a disaster.
I would suggest just one.

We don’t know how to reply to all these posts of “I am a freshman and didn’t take honors can I get into an Ivy” or “I didn’t try very hard in middle school…c.an I get into an ivy?”

We have no earthly idea.
I would imagine that Ivy going students are taking harder classes, working hard, and are intellectually curious.
of course you can be a late bloomer…but who knows?

Do the best you can in your classes this years, try to move up to honors and then APs as a Junior.
Then find a college that fits you.

Not at all! This is the schedule I took sophomore year, (except I took calculus) and it was considered super advanced at my school

Can you take a social science beside history? (Human geography, sociology, psychology… ?)
Are you getting an A in math and science right now?

So you took Bio Honors sophomore year? Was Bio Honors available freshman year for your school? @golfergirl15

Social studies can only be taken Freshman, Junior, and Senior year at our school. I have As in both Geometry Regular and Geophysical Science, as well as in all my subjects except Chinese. @MYOS1634

My school had physical science freshman year, so bio didn’t start until sophomore year. I doubled up so I can take AP Chem as a junior. Bio is mostly memorization, so it goes really well with the math based chemistry. I really liked double science  @TheFreshy

Alright, thanks for the advice. In our school, we have to make the prereqs to get into Biology during Freshman year (which I sadly didn’t make). @golfergirl15
