Hi all,
I’m currently a Chemical Engineering student attending a community college whose top choice for transfer is UCLA. I’ve earned straight A’s for 59 semester units up until the fall 2016 semester, in which I got a 2.6 GPA (3 B’s, 2 C’s, 1 W). This was due to my being overambitious and enrolling in 26 units, which really left me no time to study for any of my classes, allowed me 4-5 hours of sleep per night, and resulted in me withdrawing from one class. I’ve taken a lot of units previously so I can transfer in 2 years, as it typically takes 3 years for engineering majors. I took Calc 2 and Calc 3 along with two physics classes over the summer and earned A’s in all four classes. I’ve explained in my UC personal insight questions that I had been too aggressive in my academic advancement and have learned from this experience, but I’m still very fearful that I won’t be accepted into my top choice school with an overall GPA of 3.61. Does UCLA admissions take into account the amount of time it took for the transfer requirements to be completed? Will they give me the benefit of the doubt and still accept me, even though I’m well below the 25th percentile in GPA for transfer admits in my major? Anything helps.
Thanks!
